The Kengata knife is a specific type of Japanese knife that combines elements of the traditional Santoku knife with a shape that resembles a kiritsuke (a knife with a straight blade and a tip like a Japanese sword). The name "Kengata" literally means "sword shape," suggesting its versatility and precision.
